Education Month: Using Digital Tools for Classroom Activities Workshop

How can we use digital tools to access authentic language sources to develop language and thinking skills? This workshop will focus on sharing experiences and activities that allow students to interact with authentic language. By using authentic material, students will learn to communicate “beyond the classroom walls.” Specifically, we will look at authentic language found on the following electronic resources: TED Talks, MOOCs, YouTube, and Quizlet.
Education Month: Poetry Reading: Walt Whitman and American Culture (program in Vietnamese)

Poet-journalist Hoang Hung has translated “Song of Myself” – by celebrated nineteenth century poet Walt Whitman – into Vietnamese. Come join Hoang Hung, who will share with you the beauty of Whitman’s poems and how they reflect the American culture.
Education Month: ESL Teaching Resources on the Internet
Time: Wednesday, November 25, 2:00 p.m.

This workshop for ESL teachers will introduce free resources on the Internet to supplement English teaching. Resources include lesson plan ideas, ready-made quizzes, audio content (sound and video) and more. Free resources for students will also be shared, including English pronunciation sites, vocabulary sites, listening sites, easy reading sites, and more!
