All of the below events are open free of charge to the public. We would like you to plan carefully before registering with us so that we have enough seats for participants. If you would like to be an American Center member, please register.

July 6, 2:30 – 4:00 Graduate Education in the U.S. Dr. Claudia Petrescu, Dean of Graduate Education at Oakland University will deliver a presentation on the advantages and benefits of obtaining your graduate degree in the United States. With a focus on STEM programs, Dean Petrescu will highlight tips, advice, and methods from her extensive university experience to help you understand international education and programs. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to explore your opportunities in graduate education, gain valuable insight into the admission and selection process, and ask questions on research assistantships and more.
July 07, 2:00 – 4:00 American Game shows for English learning (Repeat performance) Hãy tham gia sự kiện tương tác tạo lại các trò chơi truyền hình nổi tiếng ở Mỹ giúp cải thiện nói và phát âm tiếng Anh. Sự kiện sẽ có các trò chơi đặc trưng như “Kim Tự Tháp”, “Tìm Điểm Giống Nhau”, “Từ Điển Hình Ảnh” và nhiều trò khác nữa. Các bạn có thể xem, hoặc thậm chí tham gia trò chơi với nhiều phần quà hấp dẫn.
This fun, interactive event will re-create popular TV game shows in the United States, as a way to improve English speaking and pronunciation. Games that will be featured include “Pyramid”, “Match Game”, “Pictionary”, and others. Those attending may watch, or even participate as the contestants, possibly win some prizes.
July 11, 2:00 – 4:00 Innovation Strategies in the Digital Economy Seminar Information technology continues to change the way people work and live. Companies that know how to use technology to create new products, business models, marketing strategies, and work practices are reaping major successes. By examining recent success stories and examples from innovative companies — large and small, high-tech and traditional, this seminar proposes a number innovation strategies and practices that Vietnamese entrepreneurs could adopt to invent or re-invent their products and services. Using examples from Apple, Google, Uber, Tesla, Johnson & Johnson, and a host of other smaller but equally innovative firms, this presentation presents the latest trends that could apply to the products, processes, marketing and organization structure and culture of any company seeking to compete successfully in a technology-enabled economy. Specifically, this talk offers practical and feasible innovation strategies for start-ups and small firms. The billion-dollar companies used as illustrations in this seminar were startups just a few years ago.
July 14, 1:00 – 5:00 EducationUSA Pre-Departure Orientation for Study in the U.S. EducationUSA advisors, Consular officers and local alumni will help prepare you for your life as a student in America. The panel will share their experiences and answer any questions you may have about student visas, travel considerations, academic, cultural, financial, and practical aspects of student life on a U.S campus. The event will also provide networking opportunities through activities that allows U.S.-bound students to meet with peers studying in the U.S. as well as out-going students.
July 19, 2:00 – 4:00 Internship Info Session Are you interested in being an Intern at the American Center? How do you get an internship? And what are the requirements? Come to find the answer and mingle with our interns. The program will be in Vietnamese. Bring your questions and friends!
July 20, 2:30 – 4:00 Admission Essay Workshop There are few places in your application where you get a chance to show who you are and highlight the parts of yourself you want to showcase, and by far the most important is the college essay. Participants will learn about what goes into making a great personal statement, what some essay pitfalls are, and discover what makes them a unique applicant. At the end of each day, students will turn their essays to editors, who will carefully review them and offer individual feedback.
