Summary: The U.S. Mission in Vietnam – U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Housing Assistant in its General Services Office (GSO).
The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within 90 days of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Supervisory Position: No
Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Realty Supervisor, the position serves as the Housing Assistant within the General Services Office (GSO). The position is responsible for the make-ready program, coordinating with Financial Management Center (FMC) to process the payments for all Post’s short term leases and utility bills for these properties. The position is also responsible for updating the lease tracking system, Real Property Application (RPA), the post housing handbook, and GSO housing regulations.
Through verbal interaction and/or written correspondence, the position will interact with outside vendors, landlords, Government offices, the Regional Security Office (RSO), and other parties per GSO request.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Education: College or university studies is required.
EXPERIENCE: Must have two years of experience in property management or real estate.
LANGUAGE: Level 3 (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required (This may be tested.) Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of Vietnamese is required.
SKILL AND ABILITIES: Must have good public relations, written and oral communication skills. Ability to research, collect and analyze information to recommend potential new housing is required. Good at numerical skills.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.

* IMPORTANT: Applicants who claim status as a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of their most recent DD-214 (“Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty”), equivalent documentation, or certification. A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
