Summary: The U.S. Mission in Vietnam – U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Procurement Agent in its General Services Office (GSO).

The work schedule for this position is:  Full Time (44 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within 90 days of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: No

Duties: Operate passenger vehicles to deliver passengers and materials. Incumbent will be expected to operate a smalltruck or passenger vehicle on a regular run one or more times a day and perform other related duties as directed.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Education: Completion of secondary school (Grade 12) is required.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Must have at least two years of professional driving experience.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:Must know how to operate and perform minor maintenance on passenger vehicles and trucks. Must be knowledgeable of host country traffic laws, city traffic patterns, streets, locations of major buildings and government offices.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level 2 (Limited Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required.
Level 3 (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of Vietnamese is required.

SKILL AND ABILITIES: Must be able to maneuver vehicles through streets safely, deliver passengers and materials expeditiously and safely, and perform minor maintenance on passenger vehicles and trucks.
Must have a valid Vietnamese category D driver’s license valid for both passenger vehicles and trucks.

Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.

A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.

** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
