[Women’s History Month] Healthy Eating and Life Balance for Women (women only)

If you care about your health, mind, and body, join coach Tran Lan Huong for an open discussion about strategies to help women stay healthy and active. After the talk, coach Huong will introduce you to some quick yoga exercises which you can practice before and after work. Participate for a more healthy life!
MOOC Camp – How to Learn: Powerful Mental Tools to Help You Master Tough Subjects
Time: Tuesday, March 17, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Speaker: Tuan Anh, facilitator
This course gives you easy access to invaluable learning techniques used by experts in art, music, math, science, sports, and other disciplines. We’ll learn about the how the brain uses two very different learning modes and how it encapsulates (“chunks”) information. We’ll also cover illusions of learning, memory techniques, dealing with procrastination, and best practices shown by research to be the most effective in helping you master tough subjects.
This MOOC Camp includes five sessions on Tuesdays, from March 17 to April 14. Participants are required to register for the MOOC course on Coursera https://www.coursera.org/learn/learning-how-to-learn, review materials and lessons before each MOOC Discussion meeting, complete all quizzes and final test, and attend at least four discussion meetings, in order to receive a certificate of completion.
[Soft Skills Training Series] Session 3: Interviewing Skills
Time: Wednesday, March 18, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.
Speaker: Bennett Lowenthal, Consulate Officer
Dealing with questions at a job interview can be nerve-wracking. This session will discuss what you need to prepare, and how to successfully tackle employers’ questions, as well as how to raise smart questions. This series consists of 4 sessions and one team project. Participants who attend all sessions and join the team project will receive a certificate of completion.
Completing an Internship in the U.S.: Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT)
Date: Thursday, March 19, 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
Speaker: Vickie Kuester, University of Wisconsin-Stout
This presentation will introduce young people to the American polytechnic model of education. A polytechnic education in the States is an engaging, active, applied learning experience that incorporates both theory and research. American polytechnic universities focus on professional, career-oriented programs in a wide range of disciplines from the fine arts to engineering. Graduates of polytechnics enjoy an extremely high employment rate, so this presentation will conclude with an exploration of some of the unique majors that polytechnic institutions offer.
