Authors Michael Morris and Dick Pirozzolo are decorated Vietnam veterans and freelance journalists. Morris served in the U.S. Army infantry in I Corps in 1967-68 and was awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded in combat and returned home to launch an illustrative career as a journalist and editor with some of the nation’s leading newspapers and magazines including USA Today.

Pirozzolo was an Air Force press officer in Saigon in 1970-71 and was awarded the Bronze Star for my service. Pirozzolo returned to Vietnam to play a prominent role in US-Vietnam reconciliation and remains active on the Editorial Board of Boston Global Forum, a think tank focused on peaceful solutions to world conflict, including tensions between China and Vietnam over disputed islands in the South China Sea.
