Film Screening and Discussion: “Heaven and Earth”

An Oliver Stone movie, “Heaven and Earth” tells the true story of a Vietnamese village girl, Le Ly, who survives a life of hardship during and after the Vietnam War. After emigrating to the United States, she faces new challenges. Come join the film screening and participate in a discussion with Le Ly about her life story.

LGBT Pride Month: HIV and Healthy Living for LGBT (in Vietnamese)

Speaker: Nguyen Anh Phong, Vietnam National Network of People Living with HIV
This session will address issues related to HIV prevention and the challenges faced by LGBT people with HIV. Expert Nguyen Anh Phong and insiders will share stories to help build awareness and create a more healthy and inclusive community.

LGBT Pride Month: Documentary Film Screening “The Last Journey of Madame Phung”

If you missed the first screening of “The Last Journey of Madame Phung” in May, come join the encore presentation of this heart-warming documentary on transgender issues. The film is in Vietnamese with English subtitles. Following the screening, we will have an open discussion with the documentary’s director, Nguyen Thi Tham, who will share stories from behind the scenes and answer your questions.
Adolescent Decision Making: Going It on Your Own at College

Speaker: Dr. Neal Newfield, West Virginia University
Parents who have children going off to college will find this program interesting and relevant. Dr. Newfield will examine the adolescent decision-making process, inherent risks, and how to better prepare your child for the decisions they will face in college.
